Katie has over ten years’ experience in the life sciences sector in a diversity of roles. She has a breadth of knowledge across the life sciences industry and a deep understanding of genomics technologies.
Katie has a PhD in Molecular Biology as well as a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Essex. Her PhD research focussed on the role of ABA-directed signalling and G protein-mediated signalling in the regulation of high light-responsive genes in Arabidopsis thaliana. Her strong interest in science communication began after she was awarded a best oral PhD presentation prize by Qiagen as part of a PhD Graduate Forum that she helped organise.
After completing her PhD, Katie was employed as part of a European team of Science Specialists working on the competitive positioning of the ‘3D-Gene’ microarray platform. Katie then moved to Cambridge Bioscience where she worked previously as a Technical Marketing Specialist and Business Manager. Here she gained over seven years’ experience in bringing cutting-edge molecular biology products to market within the UK.
